68-Year-Old Woman Charged with Stealing Purses

The elderly woman was charged for the crimes when a surveillance video appeared to show her taking a purse hanging from a chair at Mullanes Bar and Grill in Brooklyn.

Two victims in Park Slope and Fort Greene, Brooklyn had their purses stolen while dining at local eateries earlier this month and as late as last Sunday, police said.

Police charged 68-year-old Hannah Harris with the thefts after security videos implicated her in last Sunday's incident.

The video shows a woman of Harris' description walking into  Mullanes Bar and Grill, at 71 Lafayette Ave. in Brooklyn at 10:20 p.m. and snatching a 45-year-old woman's purse, according to police.

Harris allegedly walked down the aisles of the restaurant, took the purse that was hanging on a chair the woman was sitting at, turned and walked out.

She is also accused in a similar incident that occurred at the Tea Lounge, at 837 Union St. in Brooklyn. The suspect in that case allegedly stole a purse left unattended on a table.

Police charged Harris with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
