This week, Berklee College of Music, Heavy Rotation Records (HRR), and Berklee Alumni Affairs present their seventh annual CMJ Music Marathon showcase of alumni and student artists! If you’re in the New York area and love music, come by Sullivan Hall on October 17 and listen to music ranging from rock, Americana and funk to reggae and Latin. The lineup includes New York-based bands Sylvana Joyce + The Moment, Sirma (HRR), Red Oblivion (HRR), Miko & The Musket, and Numasbala; Boston's Shun Ng; and The Hello Strangers from PA, all curated by Berklee’s all ages nightclub, the Red Room at Cafe 939. Berklee’s showcase also includes raffles for a badge to attend next year’s CMJ Music Marathon. Heavy Rotation Records, a Berklee student-run record label operated by musicians for musicians, will give away merchandise like HRR’s latest album, Dorm Sessions 8, which features showcase artists Sirma and Red Oblivion. At past CMJ showcases, Berklee has presented many up-and-coming acts including Lucius, Nini & Ben (of HAERTS), Elizabeth and the Catapult, Julia Easterlin, Christopher Barnes (Gem Club), and Golden Bloom.
The CMJ Music Marathon is one of the world’s most important platforms for the discovery of new music. Throughout one week every October, CMJ features over 1,400 live performances in more than 80 of New York City’s nightclubs and theaters, drawing around 120,000 artists, music fans, and industry insiders to the festival. In addition to great music, CMJ also presents over 100 informative conference events with renowned speakers.
