Talk about putting a square peg in a round hole...
Bartel-Pritchard Square, named after two Brooklyn residents who died in one of America's first attempts at becoming a player on the world stage, WWI, is not a square. It's a circle. Look at it. Nothing is square.
Even the monument on the little ROUND island is rectangular, not square (remember, all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares). Something needs to be done about this. Maybe the people who are putting their time, energy, and hopefully money (lawyers fees=city taxes) into whining about the PPW bike lane can transfer that energy to renaming Bartel-Pritchard Square, Bartel-Pritchard Circle.

Come to think of it, New York is all about putting square pegs in round holes. Maybe the designer thought he was creating a metaphor for life in NYC.
Ok. I think i can live with that....
