Money Mag Lists Park Slope Among Top 10 City Neighborhoods to Live In

"Historic brownstones and proximity to 585-acre Prospect Park make this area a favorite of New Yorkers looking to escape Manhattan shoeboxes," the magazine notes.

Park Slopers, count your lucky stars: you're living in one of the best city neighborhoods in the entire country.

Based on NeighborhoodScout.com data, visits and talks with locals, CNN's Money Magazine named the top big city-neighborhoods to call home, and Park Slope came out on top.

"Historic brownstones and proximity to 585-acre Prospect Park make this area a favorite of New Yorkers looking to escape Manhattan shoeboxes," the magazine notes.

Perks to living in the neighborhood include low crime rates, a great restaurant scene, the food co-op and farmers' markets. Another positive attribute of Park Slope is its proximity to Barclays Center, the magazine writes, which "is a close walk but still removed from the heart of the neighborhood."

However, not all is hunky-dory in the Slope. Cons against the neighborhood include the lack of supermarkets and of "big-box retail."

"And, the real estate market is brutal (this is New York City)," the magazine writes.

With a median household income of $101,000, a median home value of $854,300 and a typical two-bedroom rental cost of $3,000, the neighborhood's homes are the priciest on the magazine's list, but are "still lower than in many areas in Manhattan."
