Police Confirm Letter Sent to Mayor Bloomberg Contains Ricin

Two poisoned-tainted letters addressed to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, one sent to New York City and the other to Washington, D.C., tested positive for ricin, a spokesman for the New York Police Department said Wednesday.   

Bloomberg never received the letter, but civilians who came in contact with the opened letters remain asymptomatic. However, members of the NYPD Emergency Service Unit suffered minor symptoms of ricin exposure, police said.

The Caribbean Gets a Hug from Mexico

Bernard James opened Corlette in December 2011 with a menu of primarily Caribbean-based entrees, featuring a national dish from each of the 12 Caribbean countries. But he found the preparation time too cumbersome. So he closed the restaurant in September of 2012 and reopened a few months later with a new plan: Soft-shelled tacos with a Caribbean twist!

SUNY Sustainability Plan: Cut Ties To LICH

The proposal doesn't guarantee that LICH will remain open, according to the Wall Street Journal. But SUNY officials say five potential operators have expressed interest in taking over the struggling Cobble Hill hospital.

Foster Ave. Creperie Nearly Ready to Open

La Crepe et La Vie, a crepe restaurant coming to Foster Avenue between E. 17th and E. 18th St., will be opening soon. The restaurants will be of a strictly French theme, with copper pots, half-timbered walls and French vintage posters to decorate them.

Barclays Center Will Host Food Truck Extravaganza

Whether you see it as a basketball arena, a concert venue, a hideous eyesore or some fourth thing not listed here, it's apparent that the Barclays Center is a great place to stuff your face.

And this weekend — and twice more this summer — Brooklyn's home court is going to be home to food trucks and outdoor seating at the entrance plaza this Saturday, June 1. Enjoy some eats from Treats Truck to Kimchi Taco Truck to Frites’N’Meats!
