5 Things: Befriend a Turtle, Take In a Show, Run For a Cause

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. Meet a turtle. Snappy the turtle is in the neighborhood and ready to hang out with your kiddies. Head to the Audubon Center in Prospect Park today from 1-2 p.m. to see Snappy and learn about other animals in the park. Enter the park at Lincoln Road and Ocean Avenue. Free. 

2. Take in some local theater. 
Award winning musical production "Dream Girls" is taking the stage in Brooklyn at the Gallery Players at 199 14th St., between Fourth and Fifth avenues. 8 p.m., $18 ($14 seniors, $14 Children, 12 and younger).

3. Buy a craft, benefit a school. The sixth annual Prospect Park Craft Fair hosted by and benefiting the PTA of PS 154 in Windsor Terrace is this Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. More than 30 0 vendors will be selling handmade arts and crafts including housewares, jewelry, fine art, clothing, and kids items! It’s a great time to find a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day! There will also be kids’ activities including Face Painting from from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Button Making with Brooklyn Design Lab from 12-3 p.m. and Flower Planting with the garden club from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Plus a raffle to win items donated by our wonderful vendors! Use the Bartel Pritchard entrance to Prospect Park at 15th Street and Prospect. 

4. Run for a cause. The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter will host their 6th Annual Walk to Defeat ALS fundraiser in Manhattan on Saturday, May 4th, 10 a.m., at Hudson River Park’s Pier 45 (Christopher Street and the West Side Highway) in Manhattan. The walk will span 2.75 miles and will end at Clinton Cove, Pier 96 at 57th Street. The walk is wheelchair and stroller accessible.  Dogs must be leashed.
