5 Things: BAMfamily Acrobatic Theater and Ferment Fest

Plus tug-boat story time and a rainwater harvesting workshop.

1. Do your part. Learn how to conserve water at the Rainwater Harvesting Workshop. You'll leave the event knowing exactly how to build your own rain harvesting system and why it's worth doing. 10:30 a.m., 462 Halsey Community Garden, 462 Halsey St. in Bed-Stuy. Free, but RSVP is required (details at the link).   

2. Take the kids on the town. As of press time, there were still tickets available to BAMfamily: Mur-Mur (The Wall). This Canadian feat of acrobatic theater explores the "story of friendship among five characters: two teenage couples and a pesky younger brother" through "soaring gymnastics and air-bound choreography to express a range of emotions," according to BAM.org. Includes a post-show Q&A. BAM Fisher Fishman Space, 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for ages 8-12, $12. 

 3. Celebrate Public School Music. Today there's also the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music's Music Partners 25th Anniversary Concert. The line-up includes 300 NYC Elementary and Middle School Students, the Park Slope Senior Center Chorus and the Brooklyn Jazz Orchestra performing works in honor of 25 years of music education in NYC schools. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 10 a.m. Free. 

4. Take the kids to the museum. Have some transit-loving little-ones? Take them to the New York Transit Museum for Meet the Author/Illustrator: Stephen Savage. Savage will talk about being an illustrator and read his latest book about a dedicated and lovable New York harbor tug boat. An art-making workshop will follow. Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St. 1:30 p.m. Free with museum admission. 

5. Frolic with fizz. Whether you like beer, Kimchi or pickles, head over to LaunchPad for Ferment Fest, with demos, tastings and music. 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. 721 Franklin Ave., $10 suggested donation. Schedule at the link.
