Lake Meadow!

More of Hurricane Irene and Her Visit to the Nabe

When I got home tonight I found a forwarded message from Park Slope Neighbors -- Announcing that Prospect Park was closed today (Sunday).  I had no idea.

Long Meadow was flooded but turned out to be one of the best surprises in the park. Dogs, kids, families waded in the water.  I had to retrieve my part retriever/part stubborn mule mutt -- once she jumped in, she wasn't coming out.  I had to go in after her, and walking through the puddle, I soon found the water well up above my knees & I'm tall.

Almost in a state of shock to find the laptop-friendly Starbucks on 7th Avenue actually closed. First time ever in memory to see a Starbucks closed for anything but Christmas.  Ended up at the Tea Lounge on Union Street which could have doubled as an evacuation center as it appeared to have at least 150 people huddled around Apples and Dells, all bloggers, no doubt.  Nice of them to stay open.
