Free Adult Lacrosse Clinics

Lacrosse in Brooklyn is generally a first generation sport. Rare is the youth player whose parents have even heard of lacrosse, much less played it. Far more common is the mom and dad approaching us as an organization to ask how they can practice with their child on their own.

This got the Brooklyn Lacrosse Club to thinking...why couldn't we host the same clinics that we are famous for with kids with the adults? Shari Appollon, Girl’s Program Director, and Deborah Nocella, Co-Founder and Treasurer, hatched a plan to do just that. With multiple goals that include adult fitness, creating a love at the family level for lacrosse, and possibly developing a few coaches along the way, the Brooklyn Lacrosse Club’s Adult League is set to hit the field for the first event of its kind in Brooklyn.

The first free session will be Sunday June 30th at 11am, at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5, the home field of Brooklyn Lacrosse Club.

With Shari and Deborah getting the women’s side started, we began to get approached by many of the program's dads. After getting trounced by the girls squads on Picnic Day, there are some dad’s who want to gain a little respectability back, as well as get in better shape.

“To think about a lacrosse program that caters to the whole family...a program that goes from Pre-K to 50. It's hard to envision the downside. Developing a love for lacrosse, as well as active habits, at the family level has so many advantages.” explains Appollon.
