District 15's PTA Election Day Bake Sale Brings Schools Together

District 15 is one of the most economically diverse districts in the city encompassing a wide range of schools. It has some of the top schools around with enormous PTA budgets, and some schools with no PTA budgets and low involvement. 

Parent leaders have discussed moving beyond thinking of just their own schools to create more equity in resources for all district schools. 

Randall's Pop-Up Barbecue Spices Up Crown Heights

Tucked into the back of The Crown Inn on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights is probably the best local barbecue you’ve never heard of. But you will. It's only been there four days, after all. 

Randall’s, a brand new pop-up sandwich counter, slings barbecue for thirsty bar patrons who have no idea just how hungry they are until they take a bite. Then it’s all over in a matter of minutes. 

Crown Heights Armory To Be Developed

Crown Heights' Bedford-Union Armory could be getting an internal makeover, becoming a community center similar to the Park Slope Armory, according to the New York Daily News.

The NYC Economic Development Corporation is currently seeking a developer to turn the space into a community center that could feature indoor space, art shows and more, the paper wrote Thursday.

Red Pandas Making Prospect Park Zoo Debut

Two red pandas will be joining the Discovery Trail exhibit at the Prospect Park Zoo, according to Wildlife Conservation Society officials.

The red pandas in Brooklyn are part of a group of four split between Prospect Park and the Bronx Zoo. 

Brooklyn Nets Don Short Shorts For a Cause

The Brooklyn Nets are going old school.

In a Funny or Die video created to raise awareness for New York Collaborates 4 Autism and Point of Hope Foundation, the new-look Nets put on their short shorts and get old school.
