About the project:
Eurila came up with the idea for this project after spending time in
McCarren Park in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Recognizing we are living in an
age where art has no boundaries she sought to photograph a social wave
in an intimate fashion. “Tattoos are common place in NYC, it's how
people speak these days.  Too often we don't get close enough to tatted
up folk to see the depth of the connection each tattoo has to that
person. I wanted a closer look”. A recent New York Times article sites a
Pew Research poll about Americans with tattoos and found that 32
percent of people aged 30 to 45 have a tattoo.  So, to narrow the scope
and intensify the intimacy Eurila photographs tattooed individuals with
their children. Whats more intimate than ones personal life? “I am a mom
with tattoos. The concept just fit my life”. Additionally the aesthetic
appeal is greater. Cute kids and Tattoos? Who wouldn't love that?
Eurila is open to traveling outside of NYC for this and welcomes all
inquires.
