Free City Stomp Trial Class

African and Irish folk songs will mix it up with blues, rock songs and ballads about bananas, taxis and garbage trucks in the winter session of City Stomp, an early childhood music program in downtown Brooklyn that focuses on making music that families enjoy as much as the children do.

Free trial classes run through December at City Stomp's three locations in Park Slope and Boerum Hill and are available via reservation (see schedule below).

Called an "awesome interactive music class for young NYC kids," by MommyPoppins, City Stomp winter classes are held every day of the week except Thursdays on a weekly basis (not every day at every location) and begin January 5 (see schedule below).

Nominated as one of the city's top music programs by Nick Jr. and GoCityKids, the City Stomp program was developed by classically trained musician and Brooklyn father of three Kevin MacCallum, a former director of Music Together.

Musical themes vary by session, and are designed to celebrate the city's cultural diversity as well as the landmarks, sights and sounds that are familiar to its young audience.  Accompanied by their own guitar, drums or keyboard, instructors -- all professional musicians -- lead a lively class that integrates melodies, harmonies and rhythms designed to build a strong musical foundation and advance future learning.  Children, sing, dance and play instruments (shakers, drums, triangles, sticks) in a spirited session that guides children toward achieving basic musical skills.

Singing class favorites along with rock and punk versions of classic children's songs, MacCallum and several teachers perform regularly as City Stomp Live, including twice monthly at Dizzy's Fifth Avenue, where their gig was named Best Place to Rock Out While Having Dinner by Time Out New York Kids this fall.

A 10-week session is $215 (sibling discount available) and includes the professionally produced City Stomp CD.  For more information, or to register, visit www.CityStompMusic.com.  To reserve a trial classes write to info@citystompmusic.com.  Trial classes are free with advance registration and are available as follows:
