Clara, Robert, and Johannes Part IV

Brooklyn Art Song Society is proud to announce the fourth concert in its five-part
series Clara, Robert, Johannes.  This concert features Johannes Brahms’ only
song cycle Die Schöne Magelone, Op. 33.  Ludwick Tieck’s poetry tells the epic tale of
a Count’s adventures to be reunited with his true love, complete with archery
contests, pirate battles, and general swashbuckling.  Performing this great work are some of todays
finest artists: tenor Dominic Armstrong, baritone John Brancy (both prize
winners in the 2013 George London Vocal Competition) and pianists Michael
Brofman (artistic director) and Peter Dugan.
They will be joined by acclaimed actor Ty Jones (Classical Theatre of Harlem, Tower Heist, Law and Order) who will
read the interweaving texts traditionally recited between the songs.  Best of all, this event is free and open to
the public!
