Gulalai Ismail was only 16 when she founded Aware Girls to advance women's
empowerment, gender equality, and peace in Pakistan. This month, she receives
the National Endowment for Democracy's 2013 Democracy Award on Capitol Hill for
her work fostering a new generation of empowered female leaders.
