It's simple, Actors Read Writers!

THE AGENDA: 
7:30-8:00PM - Intuitive Writing & Acting Exercises (optional)

Actors provide an emotional prompt that they would like to explore, writers via pen and paper (or on their laptop) write a 250 word (or less) monologue for the actor. 

8:00-8:30PM - THE MIXER

Anything that is APPROXIMATELY 6 MINUTES OR LESS (that mean 6 pages of a properly formatted screenplay, teleplay, stage play, or less than 1000 words of prose is welcome).

During the "mixer" aspect, writers who have written a short less-than-6-minute-piece will network (meet & greet) with actors and SELF SELECT who performs what. Actors & Writers are urged to meet as many of their counterparts as possible during the hour. As for material, writers are strongly encouraged to bring pieces that can be performed by a single actor. (SEE **IMPORTANT** at bottom for further explanation).

9:00-10:00PM - PERFORMANCES

The Mixer meet and greet was wonderful last week.  We had 4 writers and 3 actors for our first meetup during the Polar Vortex.

Thursday the 16th will be our first evening of readings.
The writers who attended our First Greet and Cast mixer have provided work that will be read first:
Here's a general description of the work we will be reading first and the casting :
John has a monologue about a motivational coach (Ex; Tony Robbins type) For white guys with no rhythm.  CASTING:  Caucasian actor age 30-40

Brian-Paul has a short story called MATTY about the response to a classified ad (pre internet) in the Washington Blade, a gay newspaper.  CASTING 2 men Caucasian actors one actor to play age 15  the other actor to play age 30-35 

Parth has a 6 scene relationship screenplay about a couple who meet at a business conference and develop an "affair" both individuals are married to other people.  CASTING Guy in his mid 30's Woman same age  The screenplay has 6 scenes so we can split the scenes depending on how many male & female actors attend. 
We have the work!  We need actors to come and read!  Will be a wonderful entertaining evening.  The material is very good.

**IMPORTANT** WRITERS & ACTORS, PLEASE READ:

Monologues and short excerpts are STRONGLY recommended, and will be performed first. In the instance that there is too much to read... pieces that can be performed by a single individual will be given preference over those with multiple characters. The 1:1 ratio enables for more passionate and focused performances that allow both writer & actor to experience the work as it is. This MeetUp is about allowing BOTH the writer & the actor to "OWN" the piece; when several actors perform together, they are not per se "owning the piece"

Monologues will be given first preference.

Of course, time permitting, and actors willing -- you can have a multi-character piece read.
