Rise and Shine Park Slope

Get ready for a week for news, events and breaking news coverage.

Today is Tuesday, June 19 and it will be mostly cloudy in the morning hours but will clear up a bit. The high today will be around 81 degrees, with winds from the south at 5 to 15 mph. Tonight will have a low of 68 degrees.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are going to be seriously hot—summer weather is on its way, according to Weather Underground. Tomorrow’s high will be 95 degrees, with a ten percent chance of rain. Thursday will push the mercury a little higher with an expected 97 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain and Friday will be 93 degrees with a 50 percent chance of showers, and will hopefully be the last day of the heat streak.  

On Wednesday, June 20, the New York State Liquor Authority will hold .

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the SLA’s offices, 317 Lenox Avenue, 4th Floor, in Manhattan.

The meeting is open to the public and the SLA is taking comments and concerns from the community about granting a license that would allow Barclays Center to run high-capacity clubs late into the night in the middle of residential neighborhoods.

On Thursday, the Department of Transportation is holding a meeting with Councilmember Brad Lander at Holy Name Church (in Shepherd's Hall) at 245 Prospect Park West starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will cover traffic issues on Hicks Street, and traffic calming on 14th and 15th streets. The DOT will install a bike lane on 14th and 15th streets to make the road safer and easier to navigate for drivers of cars or bikes.
