Photo of the Day: The Gnome of Third Street

This little earth-dweller sits in a garden, perhaps protecting an underground gold mine….

There is a little yellow gnome in Park Slope.

He guards a brownstone garden, sitting semi-obscured by a tree.

The word gnome first appears in the works of 16th Century Swiss alchemist Paracelsus, and was derived from the Renaissance Latin word “gnomus,” meaning earth-dweller.

Today, upload pictures of other gnomes in the neighborhood to this article, or Facebook page or e-mail them to Will.Yakowicz@Patch.com.

Being that it is an election year, if you and other registered voters scream loudly enough, someoneRead More will hear you. This sounds like a job for the 7 On Your Side, or NY1 who may be able to reach NYCDOT and Higher Ranking officials at the 78th PCT to respond to your complaint and do something.
