“With so many visitors taking advantage of free Wi-Fi in the parks since June, this initiative has been a huge success,” said Tom DeVito, AT&T vice president and general manager for New York and New Jersey, in a statement.

In addition to Prospect Park, AT&T has brought wireless internet to parks across the five boroughs, like McCarren Park in Williamsburg, parts of Central Park, Battery Park, Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, Astoria Park and more. They have also recently announced that visitors can also log on now at Mineral Springs and Tavern on the Green in Central Park, Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park and Devoe Park in the Bronx.

The Wi-Fi installation is part of a five-year digital initiative by Mayor Bloomberg, NYC Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe and Brooklyn Borough Parks Commissioner Kevin Jeffery and AT&T to provide free Wi-Fi at 26 locations in 20 New York City parks across the five boroughs.
