Father’s Day Gift Guide: Park Slope Author’s New Book ‘Man with a Pan’

Time is running out, folks. Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 16.

However, we got you covered. We’ll be posting a few gift ideas. So, check
out this best-selling book and made-in-Park-Slope gift for pops.

John Donohue, a 20-year Park Slope resident, "The New Yorker" editor and author, just came out with a book of essay and recipes: “Man with a Pan: Culinary Adventures of Fathers who Cook for their Families.”

Donohue, who lives on Prospect Park West, edited this collection of essays and recipes and includes pieces by Stephen King, Mario Batali, editor at large of the Oxford English Dictionary Jesse Sheidlower and more.

“‘Man with a Pan’ is a great book for anyone who likes to eat. Novice cooks will find essays and recipes by the likes of Mark Bittman and Stephen King that will help get them started, and experienced cooks will enjoy the musings of Jim Harrison and others on what food can do for us,” Donohue told Patch in an interview.

And since he is also a cartoonist at "The New Yorker," he promised: “The book has cartoons, too.”

If your dad is a rookie in the kitchen or a master chef, this is a great read.

“I always think that learning to cook is like learning to ride a bicycle. It's challenging and a bit scary at first, but once you get the hang of it you can go anywhere,” Donohue explained. “‘Man with a Pan’ is a great guide for anyone who is thinking of spending time in the kitchen.”

If you’re not sold on this book yet, read what "The New York Times" has to say.

You get buy “Man with a Pan” at PowerHouse on 8th for $15.95.
