Locals can help clean up the neighborhood this weekend at the Spring Civic Sweep.

Slopers: here’s you chance to help beautify the neighborhood.

All are welcome to don their grungiest duds and pitch in on Sunday for the Park Slope Civic Council’s .

Volunteers will work to pick up litter, scrape fliers off of lampposts, remove graffiti, plant flowers and mulch trees – all to a live bluegrass soundtrack by Vincent Cross and Good Company.

“My favorite thing about the civic sweep is that it does do something about the litter in the neighborhood,” said Candace Woodward, a PSCC member and chair of the event. “The litter in Park Slope is a problem, it seems to me.”

The PSCC has put on the Civic Sweep each spring and fall for the past six years in an effort to clean up and beautify the neighborhood.

But those less interested in picking up garbage will still have a few reasons to hit up the event. In addition to cleaning the streets, the PSCC will collect used electronics for recycling and the NYC Compost Project will give composting demonstrations to anyone interested.

The PSCC will provide all volunteers with all the supplies they need, and will give away free Block Clean-Up Kits on a first-come, first-served basis to Park Slope block associations.

But best yet – you’ll not only help clean up the neighborhood, you’ll leave sporting a brand new “I Made Park Slope Cleaner and Greener Today” sticker.

This year's spring Civic Sweep takes place Sunday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers should meet in front of M.S. 51.
