is about to become twice as nice.
Tonight the Gowanus bar/venue will debut a second stage in the spot’s Frontier Room, with a show by legendary indie-rocker Bess Rogers.
The new stage will play host to a slew of more intimate shows, with smaller acts that the giant main room at the Bell House, but bigger acts than the space at the spot’s sister venue, .
“I guess we just didn’t ever really think about the full potential of the space. And we started to think ‘Why don’t we do shows in that space? It’s a great space,’” said Heather Dunsmoor, a talent buyer for The Bell House. “We literally built the stage two days later.”
According to Dunsmoor, the stage’s sound system was just installed yesterday in rush to get it ready to go for a spring season full of great music. The new room’s lineup hasn’t been booked yet, but Dunsmoor said it will allow the venue to do daylong music festivals as well as smaller shows, staggering bands between the front stage and the main stage.
But the new stage isn’t all the venue will have going on this spring – Dunsmoor said that warmer weather will mean a sidewalk café and full time food vendor for the space.
More music and munchies – sounds good to us.
