Great events and news of note around Brooklyn, May 6-11

1. Meet the Mayoral Candidates. The Park Slope Civic Council and six other community groups—including the Brooklyn Heights Association, the Boerum Hill Association, the Crown Heights North Association, the Fort Greene Association, the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council, and the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association—are holding a public forum for candidates in the upcoming New York City mayoral race. Congregation Beth Elohim, 274 Garfield Pl. at Eighth Avenue, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

2. Stand under her Umbrella ella ella. Tuesday, May 7 is Rihanna's last performance at Barclays Center before she embarks on the rest of her Diamonds World Tour. As of press time there were still tickets available to the show.

3. Participate in some spring greening. Learn simple tips such as upgrading your air conditioner unit or adjusting your refrigerator settings that can save you money while conserving energy at the Brooklyn Public Library's "Help Make a Greener Brooklyn" program at the Kensington Library, 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

4. Get funky. Celebrate! Brooklyn will host its inaugural New Orleans dance party at Brooklyn Bridge Park this Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. Free.

5. Be Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger at the Daft Punk tribute party "Daft Club" in anticipation of the new album by the band. Union Hall, Saturday, May 11 at midnight.
