5 Things: Author Marian Fontana Hosts ‘Funny Pages’ at Old Stone House

What you need to know, pre-coffee.

1. Read the funnies. Don’t miss The Old Stone House and Brooklyn Reading Works Present: Funny Pages. Author Marian Fontana knows funny and she is bringing together a great group of comic writers for this night of hilarity with Don Cummings, Ellen Ferguson, Gianna Messina, Billy Frolick, Blair Fell and Marian Fontana. This event at Old Stone House is for anyone who wants to be entertained and enlightened by acclaimed and emerging artists. A $5 donation includes wine and refreshments.

2. Eat some cookies.
Stop by Hiho Batik for Cookies and Crafts. This after-school craft series is held every Thursday from 4 to 5 p.m. and features a different craft project each week. Drop-in fee includes light refreshments, instruction and all materials needed. Call 718-622-4446 to reserve your spot!

3. Guffaw with friends.
On the third Thursday of every month, comedian and author Bob Powers (Happy Cruelty Day) hosts "Steamboat!" a lineup of the city's best humor writers offering text-based hilarity at Greenlight Bookstore. Some of tonight's funny folks include Mike Lacher and Pete Reynolds. 7:30 p.m. Free.

4. Let your soul glow.
Tomorrow tickets go on sale for Electric Soul Circus, a Brooklyn hip-hop soul fest taking place at Barclays Center on May 31, featuring the likes of CeeLo Green, Busta Rhymes, Goodie Mob, Skylar Grey, and more. (Bonus points to anyone who knows what movie is referenced in the subhead.)

5. Look for a spot.
Alternate side parking is in effect.
