What Should Fill the Empty Space That Used to be Leaf N Bean?

Would a restaurant fill the void? Another coffee bean shop? A clothing store?

had a legacy on Seventh Avenue, selling top-notch coffee beans and tea since 1973—long before Starbucks even thought of Park Slope.

The shop , but will move to another location once they find a permanent home in the neighborhood.

So now, the space between and Unleashed, a large pet supply store, is empty.

What should fill the void Leaf N Bean’s has left on Seventh Avenue?

What kind of establishment would add to Seventh Avenue the greatest?

Tell us in the comments below what you would like to see call Seventh Avenue, between Union Street and Berkeley Place, home.

Also, make sure to vote in the poll below!

We've got restaurants galore in the Slope. Also coffee shops beyond count, clothing stores, toy stores, and even an occasional bar (though not nearly as many as there were in the Slope when I moved here, in 1973).
What we don't have, and what we haven't had since Pergola's moved out of the space now occupied by Starbuck's in the mid-70s or early 80s, is a butcher. Fresh cuts of all different kinds of meats -- for those of us who have not (and will not) go vegan. We've got several fish stores...why not a butcher?

A butcher would be good. So would a greengrocer to replace the one that was nearby and burned down. What we don't want is a mobile phone store, real estate office, nail salon or ATM location. Nor do we want a store with a garish sign or ugly storefront which are so commonplace and make Seventh Avenue an unattractive shopping street. The attractive seasonal decorations in the windows of Leaf & Bean will be missed.

It is funny because I voted for a butcher as well - however there is a pet store next to it.

I love the butcher suggestion. Or a fishmonger.

I would like to see a combo: butcher and greengrocer in one store.

I would like to see a cell phone store or a realtor.

Maybe a Beansprouts location.

Would not mind a Chinese restaurant where the food is edible,

Being that it is an election year, if you and other registered voters scream loudly enough, someoneRead More will hear you. This sounds like a job for the 7 On Your Side, or NY1 who may be able to reach NYCDOT and Higher Ranking officials at the 78th PCT to respond to your complaint and do something.
