Owners of Talde to Open New Restaurant on Fifth Avenue in Aunt Suzie's Former Space

Aunt Suzie's may be missed, but the new restaurant and bar opening this spring is something to be excited about.

It's official: the triumvirate behind Talde, which serves an , will open a new neighborhood joint in the space used to be, according to owners John Bush, David Massoni and Dale Talde.

The trio will team up for their new creation on Fifth Avenue, between Carroll Street and Garfield Place, and their roles will break down like this:

Talde will be the chef proprietor, create the menu and train the chefs, Massoni will be the-front-of-the-house proprietor and Bush will be the beverage proprietor (or, more appropriately, mixologist and he will actually work a couple of shifts).

Although they wouldn’t reveal any further details about the name, concept or the type of cuisine just yet, Bush did tell Patch what kind of place it will be.

“It will be the bar I want to drink, eat and do things at,” Bush said at Talde on Monday night. “I have this fantasy of getting off work here and going straight there.”

Irene LoRe, who owns the building her old restaurant, Aunt Suzie’s, , also confirmed the that the three men will be making her old haunt their new home.

“I think they are great guys, they are all smart and energetic. I think they’ll add to Fifth Avenue’s excitement,” LoRe said, who is the executive director of the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District. “We are excited by their three strengths: food, drink and management.”

Bush and Massoni co-own with NOFX frontman, Fat Mike, and partnered with Talde, who made a splash in the culinary world in Top Chef and has worked for legends like Masaharu Morimoto and Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Massoni, who said they have not told anyone about their new venture, did not want to expand on details until a later date, except that they will open spring 2012.

However, he did give Patch a small hint of the vibe.

“It’s the place we are going to go hang out,” Massoni said, also at Talde on Monday night. “It’s going to be super, super, super, super casual.”
