Local Gift Advice from Rivet

Check out the second installment of local shop owner's advice on what to get your loved one for the holidays.

You’re running out of time to go shopping, but not to worry for Patch got your back.

We checked in with Rivet, a relatively new clothing shop on Seventh Avenue, between President and Union streets, and got the scoop on what to want and what to give this holiday.

Leigh Hill, the buyer for the store, said she really wants the Billykirk floppy belt from her shop. It is tan in color, thin, made from nice, soft leather and is handmade in the USA. It costs $120.

“It is technically a man’s belt, but it is very thin and made for small waists, so it’s perfect for a woman,” said Hill. “I’d love to have it.”

She also suggested a cashmere sweater made by Minnie Rose, which specializes in cashmere and will set you back $285.

To support another local shop Hill suggests to stop by , a shoe store on Seventh Avenue between Second and Third streets. She said you could find a pair of shoes for a guy or a girl.

“I love him and I totally agree with his sense of style,” said Hill.
