Get to Grips with Anatomy at Babeland

Upbeat but detailed classes school locals on how to perfect their love lives.

There are certain sexy subjects which might cause even the least shy guys and gals to blush.

For answers to the questions you're too shy to ask your friends and much more Babeland is the place to go. The of the shop not only sells sex toys and accessories, but, for those looking for a more hands-on lesson in the ways of love, hosts a wide range of sex-themed classes.

Think of it as the anatomy lesson you never received in high school (but perhaps wish you would have), coupled with guidance on using the store’s cornucopia of sex aids.

On one recent evening, participants learned how to achieve “Moregasm.”

The workshop delved deep into masturbation, intimate communication, techniques and “hot sex positions,” as outlined on the whiteboard in Babeland’s makeshift classroom.

Lauren and Cristen, Babeland employees who preferred not to give their last names, led the $35 workshop, schooling participants through the awkward questions they would have never dared asked their high school sex-ed teacher.

“Working in the store during the day, you get bombarded with a lot of questions, so teaching is nice because you get more time to get into a topic and talk directly to people,” Cristen said.

About 20 women – and a lonely three men – showed up for “Moregasm,” which detailed anatomy in depth before progressing to techniques and positions.

Much of the instruction hit an upbeat, encouraging note.

“Just remember, you’re beautiful, no matter what’s going on with your body at the time,” Cristen reassured her willing pupils.

During the class’ intermission, two women smoking outside pondered whether they had learned anything new. One of them wrinkled her nose and shook her head.

“Not really,” she said. “But I learn better from hearing things, so maybe it’s useful.”

The class then veered toward the topic of “sexting” – writing salacious text messages. It seemed a popular practice among some in the audience.

“Because then you can write ‘LOL’ after,” a male voice called out.

While workshops are tailored to a theme, certain elements are common to different classes. Some advice offered during “Moregasm” echoed another free workshop, in which Avital Isaacs taught participants “How to Score a Touchdown with Your Man.”

To master dirty talk, “We have a very simple formula at Babeland,” Isaacs said. “You say what you’re going to do, you do it, then you say what you just did.”

The classes can be a bonding experience for some couples, or the start of a fun night out. The masturbation portion of “Moregasm” elicited delight from two girlfriends in the back row.

“It’s not all about partner sex,” Lauren said at the front of the class. “Sex with yourself can be really great, so – masturbate.”

One of the girls nudged her friend and pumped her fist, giggling.

Just like high school – only a little more risqué.
