Chouchounette is proud to partner with Shanley Knox, founder of the Nakate Project, to host a charity trunk show.

After she visited Uganda’s Luwero district, Knox was inspired to take action. The Nakate Project was formed and named after an HIV positive, orphaned 7-year-old named Cossy Nakate. It’s Cossy’s incredible spirit, that fuels this fashion-forward project and desire for Shanley to assist women in under privileged rural areas to hone their craft to create a means to survive and provide for their fa...milies. chouchounette currently carries handcrafted sandals with beautiful bead work, at both of our locations.

The Nakate Project empowers women to work, and also supports sustainable style for women who have no other means. You’ll be making a small difference, in the lives of Ugandan women, by buying their beautiful bags, shoes, and jewelry and we ask you, “Where will you take Africa?…Nakate Project”
