Cirkus Cirkör to Perform at BAM

Swedish circus troupe to perform acrobatics, daredevil stunts and magic.

Swedish troupe Cirkus Cirkör will come to in June for the U.S. premiere of Wear It Like A Crown, a show that promises illusions, acrobatics, knife throwing and juggling.

The show, directed by Tilde Björfors, with music by Rebekka Karijord, tackles the ideas of order and chaos, and the transformation of risks into opportunities —wearing failure and fear as a crown, of sorts.

"I am interested in the order inside, that which is uncontrolled and chaotic," Björfors said.

Upon hearing Karijord’s song for the first time, Björfors said: "It was as though someone had set the issues that occupy me to music."

Cirkus Cirkör was founded in 1995 by Björfors to promote the circus arts and perform daredevil shows. They previously took the stage at BAM in 2009 with "Inside Out," part of the Next Wave festival.

Wear It Like A Crown will debut at BAM on June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Other performances are scheduled for June 2 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and on June 3 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the first show, and $25 for subsequent days.
