Photo of the Day: Gargoyle of Bergen Street

The limestone face, although weather worn, still can scare away evil spirits.

Some gargoyles, during medieval times, were meant to scare people into church, reminding them that the end of days is near.

This gargoyle, on the building next to the 78th Precinct on Bergen Street, may not help scare people into obeying the law, but is a relic of the past.
