Get Out! Weekend Planner: Nov. 30 - Dec. 2

Our picks for your weekend.

The days are growing ever colder, but that doesn't mean it's time to curl up in bed. Here are some of the best things happening around the borough this weekend:

n+1 Release Party

When/Where: Friday, 7 p.m. at BookCourt, located at 163 Court St. between Dean and Pacific streets

Why Go: The literary and culture magazine is only printed thrice a year, so come out and celebrate with readings from two authors who personify the journal's high/lowbrow contrast: Julia Grønnevet will read from her account of covering the Anders Behring Breivik trial in Oslo, and Kristin Dombek will read from her essay on sex, drugs, and Ryan Gosling in Williamsburg.

Cost: Free

Gentrify Brooklyn

When/Where: Friday, 10 p.m. at the Brooklyn Lyceum, located at 225 4th Ave

Why Go: Gentrify Brooklyn is a weekly improv, sketch and stand-up comedy show. Each week it is hosted by comedy trios Sidecar (Justin Tyler, Matt Fisher, Alden Ford), M.A.D. (D'Arcy Erokan, Abra Tabak, MacKenzie Condon) and special guests.

Cost: $5

Author A.M. Homes at Central Library

When/Where: Saturday, Dec. 1, 4 p.m. at the Dweck Center at Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza.

Why Go: As part of the library's Writer's in the City series, author AM Homes will chat with WNYC's Leonard Lopate about her new book, May We Be Forgiven.

Cost: Free

Target First Saturdays

When/Where: Saturday, Dec. 1, 5 to 9 p.m. at Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway

Why Go: Give yourself a full sensory experience at Brooklyn Museum's Target First Saturdays. Listen to live music, wander the galleries and get your monthly dose of live light projections.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden Hosts 'Light in Winter'

When/Where: Sunday, Dec. 2, 10 a.m. at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, located at 1000 Washington Ave.

Why Go: On the first Sunday of each month, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden invites visitors to invigorate themselves with a host of daytime activities for all ages as part of its "Light in Winter" series.
