Salsa in the Slope with El Rico Son feat. Flaco Navaja

Saturday, April 20th Johnny Mambo’s El Rico Son will bring some of NYC’s best Classic Salsa, Bachata, Bomba, and more with sonero Flaco Navaja to Two Boots of Brooklyn, located at 514 2nd st at 7th ave in Park Slope. El Rico Son is a traditional 8 piece salsa group, whose ultra-hot players hail from throughout the five boroughs and NJ. Having fronted such acts as Yerba Buena, hosted “All That!” at the NuYorican Poets Café, toured with the Def Comedy Jam, and played in films from the indie to the blockbuster, front man Flaco Navaja brings a new sense of style to the classic sound of great singers such as Hector Lavoe and Rueben Blades. And like them, he uses his position to push an agenda of equality through throwing a party, “One of the things that drew me to old-school salsa was the social commentary.”

Timbalero and band-leader Johnny Mambo is a well-known fixture in the NYC salsa scene, uptown and down. Over the years he has assembled a group of players that delivers a fiery performance every time – a sure fire way to relieve the need to get out on the dance floor and picture yourself at some beach party in the Caribbean, regardless of the scene you’re in. The band features players that have been on the NYC salsa and latin jazz scene for many years, some of whom who have performed with such greats as Johnny Pachecho and all are deeply rooted in it’s workings in one way or another. That’s why El Rico Son carries such a name – as they bring the “rich music” to the party…and all that’s needed is you.

Expect a night full of great classic salsa, hot dancing, cool drinks, and a vibe that will take care of what ails you.
