Nicole Nadine & Central Valley Wildfire / Jessica Smucker
Often compared to singers like Janis Joplin and Lucinda Williams Nicole Nadine's soulful voice has been received with acclaim by everyone from CBS Late Show Musical Director Paul Shaffer to rock icon OASIS, who hired her to perform in their recent documentary. She has been asked to appear as a guest singer with several established bands, including BB Kings Headliners the British Yankees who, upon seeing her perform, invited her to sing with them in Boston and Maine.
Jessica Smucker writes what could be considered "dark pop" songs: catchy melodies in minor keys, lyrics that masterfully infuse sad stories with tiny flecks of humor and hope. She performs in diverse configurations and contexts, but her songs have a consistent melodic edge. "Woven with a sort of defiant sadness, a square-jawed resilience" (Fly Magazine), her compositions often start down a familiar road but, through a series of subtle twists and curves, deliver the listener to an unexpected destination.
A published poet and lifelong writer, Jessica's solo work consists of lyrical poetry and musical simplicity. Audiences respond to her straightforwardness and vulnerability on stage, and the intimate format in which she performs. When she plays with her full band she expands the scope of her songs into a lush rock landscape: fuller, deeper arrangements created in collaboration with some of the Central PA region's finest musicians.
