THE GOWANATHON IS BACK!  Come immerse yourself in an inspirational weekend of dance, theater, music, arts, crafts, cabarets, and multi-media performances to help raise funds for your favorite artists, community groups, and neighborhood arts centers.  Have a drink at one of the evening salons with live music and dance; bring your kids to a totally kids run “carnival” full of fun and games; or sew up a cutting-edge outfit for your fashionista self at a “Frankenfashion” workshop with local costume designers.  (Those are just a tiny sample of activities that will be lighting up all three floors of the Gowanus Arts building the first weekend of March, so mark your calendars and come on down!).

GOWANATHON 2 is Spoke the Hub’s latest collaborative fundraising experiment, which emerged from last year’s successful GOWANATHON event, Spoke the Hub’s first 12 hour “art-a-thon” which raised $18,000 of matching funds to purchase and install a new HVAC in Spoke’s penthouse theater in the Gowanus Arts Building on Douglass Street. This year’s expanded weekend event will not only help Spoke the Hub continue to make capital improvements in all our community arts spaces, shared by legions of local dancers, actors, musicians, teachers and martial artists, but it will also help raise funds for ALL the participating groups and their own pet projects as well. In this way, a rising tide again raises all ships and everyone benefits — you, our community who comes here for classes, performances, studio tours, and other celebrations; the artists who rehearse, perform, teach and create in our spaces; and Spoke the Hub. Your GOWANATHON donations help us serve you, the artists, and the greater Brooklyn community better!
