“Big Frank” Mirra, is known for his wonderful slide-guitar playing, and hisgruff, howling vocals. A Staten Island native, Mirra has led his own band,The Healers (originally known as “Mohair Sam”) since 1990. They have played at many festivals, including the Blues 2000+4 Festival in Ellenville, NY, The Glens Falls Blues Festival, the famed Americade bike rally in Lake George, and a headline spot in the Lake George Blues Festival. Local favorites, the band has performed at Staten Island’s St. George Theater, and have been perennially featured performers at Staten Island’s Back-to-the-Beach and Twilight series, and at The Snug Harbor Cultural Center.
As a solo artist, “Big Frank” Mirra has performed in area coffee houses andvenues, and has recently participated in the New York City Blues Society’sDelta Blues Summit concert.


Big Frank & The Healers have recorded “Big Shot” (Independent EP 1999),and “Vintage 1040” (ManHatTone, 2005). They were recently in the studio,and a new full-length CD is scheduled for release on the Lost World label this summer.
