East Coast Art of Rock Show: Opening Reception

The East Coast Art of Rock Show features hand-printed promotional concert posters by numerous East Coast designers. Hugely popular on the West Coast, we wanted to give the art of gig posters more visibility in our neck of the woods. 

Part communication part art, gig posters are revered for their far-out imagery and pervasive style. A perfect marriage of function and form, a good gig poster conveys the necessary information in a way that adds to the poster’s composition.

In addition to making work that’s communicative and interesting in it’s own right, gig poster designers are tasked with melding music and imagery and conveying the attitude of the band, the mood of their sound, and atmosphere of that particular concert experience.

Outrageous text manipulations, unusual color pairing and bold patterning help achieve this goal, eliciting admiration from artists, designers and music-lovers alike.
