Brooklyn Museum comes alive every Thursday at 7 p.m. with a series of special programs. Cool, with a distinctive Brooklyn vibe, the series includes interviews, performance, film, and eclectic, eye-opening tours. All events are at 7 p.m. unless noted. The lineup is as follows: 


February 16
Gallery Tour:African Innovations
New Ways of Seeing: Drop-in Drawing Workshop
Film: Afropunk debuts Triptych, a series of short films highlighting the work of artist Sanford Biggers, Barron Claiborne, and Kehinde Wiley. Q & A, reception, and music follow.

Thursday, March 1
Gallery Tour: "Unconventional Women from Ancient Egypt to Twenty-First-Century Brooklyn"
Artist Tour: Raw/Cooked artist Shura Chernozatonskaya leads a tour of her site-specific painting installation. 

Thursday, March 8
In Conversation: Following a performance by a group of legendary poets and writers, poet and publisher jessica Care moore, the founder of Black Women Rock!, discusses the state of black poetry and literature with painter and author Danny Simmons, the co-creator of Def Poetry Jam.

Thursday, March 15
Gallery Tour: "Seeing the Figure: Nude, Naked, or Undressed?" 
Film: Miss Representation (Jennifer Sibel Newsom, 2011, 85 min.). Documentary examining the role that the mainstream media plays in women's underrepresentation in positions of power.

Thursday, March 22
BrooklyNites Jazz: Helen Sung, winner of the Kennedy Center's Mary Lou Williams Piano Competition, performs.
Asia Week Tour:
 "You Can Take It with You: Burial Objects from Ancient China and Egypt"

Thursday, March 29
Performance: Iconic feminist group the Guerrilla Girls presents an interactive, multimedia performance that illustrates their history of using art and action to expose and critique discrimination, using examples from the newly released edition of their Art Museum Activity Book.
Panel Discussion: "Transnationalism and Women Artists in Diaspora"
