5 Things: Monumental Works by El Anatsui at Brooklyn Museum

A round up of events throughout Brooklyn.

1. Eat some BBQ. Go to Dinosaur BBQ tonight at 5 p.m. on Union Street for its first night open to the public. 604 Union Street, between Third and Fourth streets.

2. Talk about Brooklyn. Head to Brooklyn Public Library for the event Created in Brooklyn – Conversations– Fantastic Food. Photographer Randy Duchaine, in association with Created in Brooklyn, chats with individuals featured in his 
exhibition to discuss their creativity and diversity, and how they help make Brooklyn extraordinary.

3. Head to the museum. Check out the exhibit, Gravity and Grace: Monumental Works by El Anatsui at the Brooklyn Museum. This will be the first solo exhibition in a New York museum by the artist El Anatsui and will feature over 30 primarily large-scale works in metal and wood that transform appropriated objects into site-specific sculptures.

4. Listen to some music. Go to The Way Station to hear Michael Sackler-Berner + Big Charlie's Rubber Band + Simone Stevens play. Take in all the Alt Rock, Progressive and folk you can handle.

5. Move your car. DOT’s alternate side parking rules are in effect.
