5 Things: Miss Subways Gallery Tour

1. Make a splash. Have a faded or stained T-shirt you can't part with? Want to perk-up your wardrobe or learn a new skill? Head to Brooklyn Brainery in Prospect Heights for a Drop In Tie-Dye Party. Bring 100% cotton, hemp or linen items to die. Children welcome. Register in advance, then drop in any time between 2 and 5 p.m. $7.

2. Travel back in time. If you're interested in history, head to the New York Transit Museum for the Miss Subways Gallery Tour. Exhibit photographer Fiona Gardner looks beyond the pretty faces and pageant sashes to explore the changes and challenges that shaped these women's lives. No reservations required.   Boerum Place and Schermerhorn Street (go down the defunct subway stairs). 2 p.m. Free with Museum admission ($7 general, $5 kids 2-17 and seniors 62+) 

3. Join the hilarity. Let loose tonight at Cool Pony, for A NIGHT THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY!: Adult Puppet Show. The Franklin Avenue bar/vintage shop describes the evening thusly: "Tom DiMemma, certified cool guy, will be joining us for 'a night of puppet shorts, Jewish redneck music, and other nonsense' in our very own backyard. It will hilarious. It will be musical. You will be pleased." Sounds good to us. Plus it's free (with donation requested). 

4. Take the kids on the town. Take them to Story Time at Powerhouse on 8th in Park Slope where author Nicholas Blechman will be reading his latest children's book, Night Light. 1111 8th Ave. bet. 11th and 12th streets. 11:30 a.m.

5. Move the car. Alternate side will be in effect tomorrow. The next suspension isn't until May 27 for Memorial Day.
