Where to Watch the Game

Our picks for where to catch this weekend's football mania.

Break out your Jets jersey — it’s that time of year. Here are our picks for great Slope spots to catch this weekend’s football frenzy.

Dram Shop is the perfect place to watch the game if you’re dragging along friends who aren’t exactly football fanatics — a host of board games, pool and shuffle board will keep them from asking you to explain the rules every second. For the games this weekend, the Ninth Street bar will serve up $3 Miller High Life’s, plus the usual weekend happy hour from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Only in Park Slope does there exist such a thing as a “family-friendly” bar to watch the game. If you’re watching the game with the kids, head to Park Slope Ale House, where there are 20-plus draft beers and big-screen TVs for the grownups, and burgers and crayons for the kids.

Head down to Fourth Avenue and celebrate the Jets’ imminent victory Aussie-style. Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Coopers Pale Ale and Coopers Sparkling on tap is a treat.

Tucked away on Third Avenue, Canal Bar is easily one of South Brooklyn’s best spots to catch the game. Though the bar bills itself as a Bears bar, there are always plenty of Jets fans, too, and the crowd is rowdy. This weekend the bar will serve up hot dogs and $10 buckets of beer for the games.

With over 70 TVs and 40 beers on tap, Fifth Avenue’s 200 Fifth is like the Disneyland of sports bars. But if you plan on actually grabbing a seat for the game, best get there early — this place fills up quick.

Seventh Avenue’s Old Carriage Inn is a classic sports bar, but won’t be nearly as packed as 200 Fifth. Grab a seat at the bar and hunker down to watch the game with a $3 Bud Light or $3 Miller High Life. Of course, for the beer nerds, there’s local brews like Kelso and Blue Point on tap, too.

Though Black Horse Pub is better known as the place to watch soccer, the big-screen TVs are just as well suited for watching the Jets. In honor of the festivities, this weekend the bar will offer up a host of good deals, including chili and a beer for $10.
