Woman Raped in Park Slope; Police Searching for Suspect

A man forced his way into a 20-year-old woman's Park Slope apartment and sexually assaulted her Monday night, police said.

Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating an Asian man wanted in connection to the rape, which happened at 8 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of Prospect Park West and Union Street.

Ribbon Cut at Lefrak Center at Lakeside

The moment many Brooklynites have been waiting for finally happened Tuesday as the the Park Department, elected officials and major donors cut the ribbon at the long-awaited Lefrak Center at Lakeside.

The 26-acre, $74-million restoration and redesign of an underutilized section of Prospect Park now features two rinks -- one covered and one uncovered -- for ice skating and roller skating along with a cafe and public event space.

Brooklyn Colony Sports Bar Opens in Park Slope

Giving a nod to the classic sports bars while featuring live entertainment and drink specials weekly, Brooklyn Colony is the latest bar to open on 4th Avenue in Park Slope at the bottom of Garfield Place.

The bar features traditional sports bar amenities like the pool table, dart board and shuffleboard table with multiple big-screen HDTV's. They also have weekly entertainment, including a regular Friday and Saturday night DJ residency.

Funds Cut for Half of Brooklyn's Food Pantries and Kitchens

While food insecurity may not be as volatile an issue as homelessness is in the city right now, it still affects a large number of people and is often connected.

Many of food pantry and soup kitchen are finding more people needing their help while over half of them are suffering from combined cuts in government and private resources, according to a study by New York City's Coalition Against Hunger (NYCCAH).
