After Win, de Blasio Outlines Progressive Vision For NYC

Democrat Bill de Blasio became mayor-elect of New York City Tuesday night, securing a projected landslide victory over Republican Joe Lhota.

At a victory party at the Park Slope Armory, de Blasio outlined his vision for a progressive New York City in front of a cheering crowd and allied Democratic legislators. 

Mayoral Hopeful de Blasio Casts His Vote in Park Slope

Mayoral candidate and democrat Bill de Blasio cast his vote Tuesday morning at his polling place in Park Slope.

The candidate voted along with his wife Chirlane McCray and two children, Dante and Chiara. Though de Blasio would not divulge his votes, he did say that he voted along the democratic line.

New York Voters Approve Casino Expansion

New York voters have approved a referendum that clears the way for up to seven new casinos in the state.

The Associated Press said theConstitutional Amendment passedwith about 60 percent of the votes counted. About 57 percent of voters were in favor of the measure.

Red Pandas Making Prospect Park Zoo Debut

Two red pandas will be joining the Discovery Trail exhibit at the Prospect Park Zoo, according to Wildlife Conservation Society officials.

The red pandas in Brooklyn are part of a group of four split between Prospect Park and the Bronx Zoo.
