Thursday Morning Fire Injures Two in Park Slope

A fire in a four-story Park Slope brownstone Thursday morning resulted in minor injuries for one resident and one firefighter.

According to the FDNY, units were first called to 334 8th St. in Park Slope at 9:19 a.m. Thursday. The fire was in the first story of the four story building and was put under control at 10:10 a.m.

Mayor de Blasio Announces Vision Zero, Gets Serious on Traffic Safety

Surrounded by parents clutching pictures of their children whose lives were lost in traffic accidents, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced immediate action and the implementation of Vision Zero to increase traffic safety in NYC.

The mayor ran off startling statistics outlining the seriousness of traffic accidents in the city, including the facts that being struck by a vehicle is the leading cause of death for kids under 14 in this city and the second leading cause of death for seniors.

Bluestone Cafe Opens in LeFrak Center at Lakeside

Lakeside at Prospect Park has debuted two ice rinks to the enjoyment of locals, and now the operator of the center, Upsilon Ventures, has announced that Bluestone Cafe is now open to the public.

The cafe will be open open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. In addition, snacks like hot dogs, soups and chili will be available at Ice Bites, the concession stand located near skate rental.

Highlights: Brooklyn Nets Victorious in London

Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has taken a much more hands-off approach with the team this season, but he was on hand in London to watch the Nets topple the Atlanta Hawks in a high-scoring affair at the O2 Arena.

Joe Johnson led the team with 29 points as he was 6-of-8 from beyond the arc, while Andray Blatche added 20 points and 14 rebounds to help lead the Nets to a 127-110 victory.

Walk-in Cookbook Launches Photo Contest

Park Slope's Walk-in Cookbook knows you love taking pictures of your food, and now those pictures can win you a free meal.

The Seventh Avenue store launched a photo contest Monday on its Facebook page. If you like their page and snap a picture of a meal you bought and made from Walk-in Cookbook, you can then enter it into their contest.
