What happened this week on Park Slope Patch.

This week was a busy one in Park Slope news.

The week started off with the sad news that a in Prospect Park Lake, after chasing a bird out onto the thin ice. The story touched many Park Slope Patch readers. One reader commented:

“Pasha was a wonderful and obedient dog. My poodle puppy adored her. This was a total tragedy and should be treated as such.”

Hon. Chris Owens, District Leader of the 52nd Assembly District, shared his thoughts on the new Schools Chancellor Cathie Black in “.” Spoiler alert: he’s not a fan.

Wednesday, news broke that an online was recently run out of Methodist Hospital. According to court documents, a doctor, his girlfriend and others  sold over 11,000 Adderalls between May 2008 and April 2010.

We reported neighborhood reactions to the new, long-term to the F and G lines in Park Slope and beyond. raised some concerns over the changes, though ultimately changes were one week due to the snow. Beginning January 17, Prospect Park-15th Street will recieve no Manhattan and Queens-bound service, in addition to other service changes on both lines.

On Monday, reporter Deborah Lynn Blumberg brought us the scoop on a new Park Slope-based for adults. The troupe’s first performance will be “Urinetown;” auditions took place this past week.

We also checked in with Prospect Park Administrator one last time before she leaves her office at the end of the month. Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe had some nice things to say:

"From the restoration of its woodlands, to the introduction of family-fun programs at the Audubon Center, and the current creation of the Lakeside Center, she has spearheaded the effort to bring Prospect Park back to the people.”
