The Week in Park Slope

What happened this week on Park Slope Patch.

It was another big week of news in Park Slope. Here’s our roundup of the biggest (and most interesting) headlines in the neighborhood this week.

On Monday columnist Louise Crawford explored how the streets of the neighborhood .

Tuesday we took a look at the Slope’s very own , where would-be musicians learn not only how to play an instrument, but how to really rock out by writing songs and developing stage presence.

We also had the scoop on the renovations at , which finally got underway this week after months of delays.

On Wednesday, word broke that local Councilmembers Brad Lander and Steve Levin have introduced legislation intended to help of Prospect Park’s geese. “Essentially these geese were slaughtered in the middle of the night,” said Levin. “The way that I look at it is that the geese are migratory birds. They’re essentially guests in New York City and that’s no way to treat a guest.”

Our resident booze hound brought us the best of the Slope’s on Thursday.

Then we found that another cupcake spot has already replaced the which closed only a month ago in a swirl of drama. Butter Lane, an outpost of the East Village bakery, will operate out of the space through April, potentially staying on permanently if the space does well.

Foodie Wendy Blake brought us the scoop on a on Friday.

And finally, we closed out the week with a look at a coming to the Slope, featuring the otherworldly underwater photography of Sloper Brandi Irwin. The exhibit will showcase not only pretty shots of fish and shipwrecks, but also images of sea creatures that even most experienced divers have never seen – fluorescent, or glow-in-the-dark, marine life.
