THE STOOP: A Lucky Strike Sign, A ‘Good’ Printer and A Dog Agility Trophy

Our weekly round up of Brooklyn stoop items.

This week we found some great treasures on the stoops of Park Slope.

One of the coolest items we found stoop-side was a vintage Luck Strike tin sign, although we don’t condone smoking cigarettes, it was still a great find—something that would go great in a bar, or well, a man cave.

We also found a “good printer” that seemed to be in great condition.

An item that reminds me of my grandmother was a wooden flower press. My grandmother would always collect flowers from her garden, press them and then laminate them on to greeting cards.

We also found a pair of leather shoes that have seen better days, but had a whole lot of character. They were well worn, worn in and ready for a classy jaunt throughout the city streets.

An item that is appropriate for the nice weather was a green iron patio table—something that would help sit a small gathering for a barbeque or a party.

However, the most quirky find was a first place trophy for a dog who won the “Dog Agility Championship” given by the North American Dog Agility Council.

A good read we found stoop-side was a book entitled: “The Confession” by Domenic Stansberry. Another good book was Robert Crais’ "Voodoo River."

A historical read of photographs of “Black Women Who Changed America” entitled, “I Dreamed a World,” features portraits of Oprah Winfrey, the poet Gwendolyn Brooks and many others.
