Buttermilk Channel

The best cure for a New Year's hangover is more alcohol, right? At Buttermilk, all brunches come with mimosas, bellini or sparkling wine. Or try The Court Street  bloody mary special with rosemary-infused vodka. As far as food, you can't go wrong with the homemade sausage or cheddar waffle.

New Year's brunch: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you think a pancake is just a pancake, you haven't had a Cafe Luluc pancake. The flapjacks at this cozy French bistro are reliabley fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside. No wonder so many Brooklynites are fans.

New Year's brunch: From 8 a.m. to closing.

Perk up after a late night of imbibing with the incredible cafe con leche at Cubana Cafe. The torejas—Cuban french toast with mango compote—and huevos rancheros are brunch staples, but if breakfast isn't what you're craving, you can order the regular menu all day long as well.

New Year's brunch: From 10 a.m. to closing.

Along with typical American brunch fare, Miriam's is known for its Mediterranean dishes like the Israeli breakfast and burekas. Lines start early at this brunch hot spot, so it's worth pushing through your hangover and getting here at opening.

The only thing better than Palo Santo's sangria is Palo Santo's sangria PLUS tea and huevos banada for just $15. Or opt for some a la carte entrees such as the to-die-for rabbit mole at this Latin bistro.

New Year's brunch: 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Stay local and eat local.  At Union Street farm-to-table eatery Rosewater, the price fixe brunch cost is raised a dollar on New Year's but $15 will still give you an entree and drink. Entrees this season include roasted pear and lemon crepes, fried butternut squash sandwiches and baked polenta and goat cheese. And if that's not enticing enough, there will be special New Year's options to boot.

New Year's brunch: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This cute family owned French bakery has a great ambiance that will surely start your year off right. But of course, that's not even the best part—Provence en Boite also has just about the best French toast this side of the river, accompanied always by a generous helping of fresh berries on top.

New Year's brunch: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the South, the dish Hoppin' John is said to bring good luck when eaten on New Year's. Seersucker's version, based on the chef's own family recipe,  includes Carolina gold rice, black eyed peas, Vermont cheddar and green onions plus a side of collard greens. As usual, Seersucker will also dish up its usual host of Southern comfort, including shrimp and grits and biscuits and gravy, all day long.

New Year's brunch: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

'Tis the season for wintery good food.  Luckily, this newly opened seasonal eatery offers just that, with house-made pickled vegetables and the famed speck & egg sandwich.
