Rally Thursday Night at Carroll Street Bridge
Group will protest building of 700-unit apartment complex on Gowanus Canal.
The Carroll Gardens Coalition for Respectful Development will host a rally Thursday night to protest the Lightstone Project, a planned 700-unit rental structure on the Gowanus Canal.
The event will be attended by mayoral candidate Bill Thompson, and CG CORD is urging all area residents to attend.
In a blog post, the group called the rally a " a chance to bring broader attention to our issue of irresponsible development (which endangers scale, zoning, schools, transit and health and safety) in the context of the mayoral race."
THe group was careful to remind readers that the rally would not include an endorsement of Thompson or any other mayoral candidate.
The event will take place at the Carroll Street Bridge at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
