PHOTOS: Five New Ducklings At Prospect Park Lake

Hatchlings join baby swans and goslings on the lake.

Five ducklings hatched at Prospect Park Friday morning, joining what’s becoming a waterfowl nursery on the park’s lake.

The tiny mallards hatched between 6:45 and 7:00 a.m. on one of the islands on the eastern side of the lake, according to Anne-Katrin Titze, a wildlife rehabilitator who was lucky to catch the event and sent in these photos.

“The ducklings immediately jumped into the water and swam with their mother. The father watched from the island and then flew over to join them,” Titze said via e-mail.
