Patch Picks: St. Patty's Day

There's no need to head to Manhattan to celebrate – Park Slope has plenty going on.

Avoid the Midtown madness and instead stay closer to home for your St. Patty’s Day revelry this year – there’s plenty to do.

This upscale neighborhood bar and restaurant is pulling out all the stops for St. Patrick's day. There will be  live entertainment, courtesy of the Monaghan Bag Pipe Band and a $7 Guinness and whiskey special. Thistle Hill's kitchen will be also serve up a locally sourced lamb Shephard's Pie.

If you’re looking for a more family-friendly St. Patty’s celebration, PSBklyn is your best bet. The new eatery is dishing out bangers and mash, “from scratch” corned beef and cabbage and a whole list of holiday-themed cocktails like the Nutty Irishman and the Leprechaun Libation – all for just $5 a pop.

The reborn Freddy's will be celebrating  in style with a free music showcase featuring The Captures, The Telephones and The Highland Shatners, beginning at 8 p.m. Early birds are in luck, as Freddy's will also be doling out $2 Miller High Life and Pabst Blue Ribbon, and $5 whiskey shots until 8 p.m. (afterward, $3 and $6, respectively).

Avoid crowded bars and green beer this St. Patty’s Day, and instead head to Brooklyn Reading Works: Blarneypalooza. The monthly reading series will be hosted by poet Michele Madigan Sommerville, who will curate a reading of a celebration of Irish writers.

Head to Timboo’s for the classic St. Patty’s day experience – without having to hop the train to Manhattan. The bar will have complimentary corned beef, Irish tunes, and happy hour ‘til 6 p.m. boasting $3.00 Coors Light drafts and $4.00 Sam Adams, Newcastle, Brooklyn Lager, and Blue Moon.
